Meet the Candidate
Mike Caldwell
An active attorney serving the communities of Eastern Montana, Mike Caldwell is running to bring experienced, level-headed leadership to the Custer County Attorney’s Office.
Mike has lived across the United States, from Wisconsin and Texas to California and Hawaii. Coming from a military family, he joined the United States Army at 18 years old and spent the majority of his service as a non-commissioned officer.
He has worked as an attorney, an investigator for the Department of Defense and in several management positions. He put himself through law school, passed the bar exam and became a sworn attorney in 2021.
Mike moved to Miles City to work and raise his children with his wife. With three daughters and experience as a teacher, he has spent considerable time working with youth—with the goal of improving not only his own children’s lives, but the lives of children throughout the community.
He is an Eagle Scout and enjoys hunting, shooting and hiking. A lifelong learner, Mike is also an avid reader with a strong interest in history.
Level-headed and patient, Mike seeks to improve outcomes in Custer County through stronger communication and cooperation with law enforcement, timely and appropriate prosecution of crimes, and proven tools such as drug treatment court to reduce recidivism and help build a safer, healthier community.
